What Is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment, also called spinal manipulation, involves a quick and controlled movement to a specific joint — typically in the spine, but also in the hips, shoulders, or extremities when needed. This helps:
-
Realign joints that are restricted or misaligned
-
Improve nervous system communication
-
Relieve muscle tension and joint stiffness
-
Reduce pain and inflammation
-
Enhance mobility and posture
You may hear a “pop” or “crack” during the adjustment — this is simply gas being released from the joint, similar to cracking your knuckles, and is usually painless.

Conditions Chiropractic Adjustments Help With
Chiropractic care is effective for more than just back pain. Some of the most common reasons patients seek adjustments include:
-
Neck pain and tension
-
Headaches or migraines
-
Sciatica and radiating leg pain
-
Shoulder or hip mobility issues
-
Sports or workplace injuries
-
Postural strain from long hours at a desk
We don’t just treat symptoms — we focus on the root cause of your discomfort and build a plan to correct it.

Is Chiropractic Safe?
Yes — chiropractic adjustments are widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available. At our Clairemont office, we tailor each adjustment to your age, body type, and comfort level.
If you're not a candidate for manual adjustments or prefer a gentler touch, we also offer low force chiropractic techniques like Activator® or SOT® blocking — see our separate page for more information on these gentle methods.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Realign. Restore. Reclaim Your Health.
Chiropractic adjustments are the foundation of care at The Bridge Chiropractic. These hands-on techniques are designed to restore motion to restricted joints, reduce nerve irritation, and help your body function at its best. Whether you're dealing with chronic discomfort or looking to improve posture and performance, chiropractic care offers a drug-free, non-invasive solution to support whole-body wellness.

What to Expect During an Adjustment
At The Bridge Chiropractic, your care starts with a detailed assessment and spinal exam. Once we identify areas of dysfunction, Dr. Nate Beyerl will walk you through the recommended adjustments and techniques. You remain fully clothed during the visit, and most adjustments are performed on a padded chiropractic table with you lying face down, face up, or on your side.
We always explain what we're doing — and why — so you feel informed, comfortable, and in control of your care.
